Golem Theory and the Origin of Talismans!
After the last episode we learned that nightmares or big fears seem to come to true after the death of that person who had that fear or nightmare.
Okay so I have 2 theories that I will keep pretty succint...
#1 what if the items like the talismans, the totems, and the faraway trees function similarly. They were things that people poured their belief into but didn't really work until they died. In this theory, the 'belief' or 'fear' is trapped in the person until death.
Some points to consider
The nightmare being released after death was confirmed by Tabitha...
The Cicadas were hinted at to be released after the death of Nathan
The music box demon was released after the death of the host (Smiley)
The children poured their hopes into the roots of the trees that became the faraway trees before they died
Some other potential hints from a recent rewatch...
- Dream Catcher symbol... In the Episode with Fatima's 1 year anniversary in Fromville, she receives a dream catcher. It's kind of random but it's actually a great symbol of what Fromville is... a space where all of the bad things are caught (also kind of looks like a spiderweb). It catches all of the fears and nightmares (and potentially souls) but still allows some good to pass through. The good has been captures by various objects and can be used to finally defeat the evil entity. What's more is that these objects were created by the deaths of the predecessors, so their lives did not ultimately go fully to waste but they were a part building up the resources that would allow them to escape. Reminds of what Kenny said in a previous season: "It's hard to see the sweater when you're only just a thread"
#2 Okay okay okay so that all said , what if the Golem will only come to life AFTER Fatima's death.
