These 3 study hacks made me ace my last exams
This is not the usual “just make a better study schedule” advice. I
used to spend hours studying before exams and still feel like I barely
remembered anything when the test came around.
So I changed the way I studied, and these 3 things made the biggest
difference for me.
I stopped relying on rereading. After studying a topic, I close my
notes and try to explain everything I can remember. Sometimes I write
it down, sometimes I explain it out loud. It feels harder than
rereading, but it shows me what I actually know and where the gaps
are.
I also started studying with audio when reading gets exhausting. Long
pdfs and textbooks can be really tiring, especially when I’ve already
been studying for a while. Sometimes I listen to my study materials
using invocly while taking notes, which makes it easier to keep going
without staring at the screen the whole time.
The biggest change was probably stopping the cramming. Instead of
trying to learn everything in one massive session, I spread my study
sessions out and come back to the material later. Even short reviews
seem to work much better for me than trying to memorize everything the
night before.
These changes didn’t magically make studying easy, but they made my
study time much more effective.
I went from spending hours studying and still feeling unprepared to
actually feeling confident going into my exams.
