Do married couples really not put all money together?
Myself and my husband count all income as one so all wages go into the budget and all expenses come out and we jointly decide each month what else happens with the money (ie if €2000 left then €1000 savings €100 takeaway €500 clothes €300 miscellaneous and so on). We are married for 18 year together 22 years both in early 40’s with kids. I always find it strange when couples split bills or have separate money but the more I speak to friends this appears to be the way.
Anyone else just lump all money together and it’s family money not mine or his?
Edited to add it doesn’t have to be all in a joint account I just meant all budgeted together so could be moved around as needed all for the benefit of the family.
