Protection for skin

Protection for skin

Hello all,

We are expecting a new (human) baby soon, but are worried about our CH kitty injuring their skin. Our kitty is very sweet and loves to jump up on people and cuddle them. Unfortunately, she is very wobbly and will often fall off, digging in with her claws hanging off with her full weight. We just put a blanket over our legs, but that won't always be an option for a kid and wouldn't be appropriate for a baby. We have tried nail caps, but she is able to pull them off quite easily.

Would boots be reasonable?

Root flare and soil grading question

The trees in our new home are all buried in several inches of topsoil. Unfortunately, that same soil level is all around the plots, and I would prefer not to remove that much soil and regrade. Is there a good way to expose the root flare and mulch around it while (A) preserving the existing grade and (B) not having water then pool around the trunk?

Bonus cat pic at end, and please don't mind my partial excavations.

Tear in foundation waterproofing

Our recently purchased home has a preserved wood foundation with a protective plastic sheeting. The foundation was cleared on inspection, but after moving some mulch, I found small tears in the protective plastic cover.

I spoke with the inspector again, who said it could be repaired with Blueskin - but from what I'm reading, it looks like Blueskin would have difficulty adhering to the existing membrane. Does anyone have advice on how best to patch these tears?

The grading also seems kind of sloppy around the edge of the building, which I imagine should be fixed.

Thanks!
