Access to Bali’s increasingly popular island destination of Nusa Penida is set to become significantly easier as Indonesian authorities move forward with major infrastructure improvements designed to support rising tourism demand. The Klungkung Regency Government has officially accelerated a series of priority development projects across the Nusa Penida District, aiming to improve transportation, accessibility, and overall travel experiences for both residents and international visitors.
The announcement comes as Nusa Penida continues experiencing a massive tourism boom, transforming the island into one of Indonesia’s most sought-after coastal and nature destinations. Famous for dramatic cliff landscapes, turquoise beaches, snorkeling experiences, and iconic viewpoints, the island is now attracting growing numbers of travelers choosing to stay longer rather than visit only on day trips from mainland Bali.
Among the most important projects now moving forward is the Sampalan–Toyapakeh Road improvement initiative, officially launched earlier this week by Klungkung Regent I Made Satria alongside members of the Klungkung Regional Leadership Coordination Forum.
