Subject: Notice of Unpaid Wages Owed to Mr. SpongeBob SquarePants
Dear Mr. Krabs,
The United States Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, Bikini Bottom Field Office, has received multiple reports concerning alleged wage violations involving your employee, Mr. SpongeBob SquarePants.
Following a preliminary investigation, this office has determined that Mr. SquarePants appears to have performed full-time fry cook duties, janitorial services, customer service, emergency response, pest control, security support, and excessive “team morale” labor without receiving proper wages, overtime pay, or legally required compensation.
Based on available records, witness statements, and one extremely emotional interview with Mr. Patrick Star, it is estimated that Mr. SquarePants is owed approximately:
$2,478,381.17
in unpaid wages, overtime compensation, holiday pay, emotional distress compensation, and back pay for every documented instance in which he reported to work while saying, “I’m ready.”
Additionally, a Bikini Bottom District Judge has ruled that you may be liable for unpaid payroll taxes, failure to provide employee benefits, improper classification of labor, and suspicious attempts to list “Krabby Patties” as both a business expense and a dependent.
You are hereby directed to respond to this notice within 30 days of receipt. Failure to comply may result in further enforcement action, including but not limited to wage garnishment, seizure of the cash register boat, and a full federal audit of the secret formula.
