Advice on changing counsel pre PH

I am well into the ET process, represented with PH in late Sept 2026 at London Central. I also have intermittent employment issues that we discuss.

While my counsel is fine, it is on the super high end price wise. Several months ago senior counsel suggested I might want to find another firm to take it forward. In hindsight, it was good advice, but I wasn't ready to act on it.

Now here I am considering it particularly as every interaction involves billing both for the junior's work and the senior counsel reviewing her work, which also impacts turn around.

Main ET-1 claims are discrimination and TUPE failure to consult.

FEEDBACK SOUGHT -

  1. I am looking for key questions to ask when screening a potential new firm.
  2. For counsel on this board, based on experience, have you seen a change in counsel done successfully pre PH? Could I expect that if available, the barrister who drafted my ET-1 would transition with my new counsel if needed?
  3. Welcome any personal recs for firms/named individuals. The case will be online, so London based is not a requirement. I am not in a position to be LiP, so seek a solicitor to replace my current one.
