Looking for the next obsession
I've been an enjoyer of RFM-style stories for a while now but have recently hit a wall in terms of finding the next gem of a story that'll grip me at 4am and not allow me to sleep until the sun peaks over the horizon... Also, Kindle Unlimited keeps recommending AI written stories, which have just depressed me.
Some stories that I've really enjoyed are:
- Charlotte's Reject (where it all began...)
- Mob Sorcery series by K.D. Roberston
- Warlock by Daniel Kensington
- Monster Girls in Space series by M. Tress
- Sexy Steampunk Babes by Bluefishcakes (on Royal Road)
- Some of Snekguy's standalone stories like Heart of the Oasis, Lamentations of the Turnip Farmer and Cabin Boy
- And if you've read any BreaktheBar stories, his prose is top tier imo
I have tried the usual suspects like Bruce Sentar, Leon West, Misty Vixen and Peter North, but unfortunately their writing styles were either too repetitive for my taste or somehow jarring.
Other things I value in a good story:
- Well edited (few, if no, mistakes in grammar/spelling)
- Great dialogue
- "Flow" - hard to explicitly define
- Multi-dimensional characters (ofc!)
With that being said, I look forward to all the recommendations to keep me busy during this Summer of reading!
