Totally Broken Run

I’ve gotten into the habit of doing judgement runs with origination, strength, persistence, and the queen activated for arcana. I switch keepsakes to crystal figurine, calling card, and experimental hammer, in that order for zones 2, 3, and 4. I’ve gotten good enough with all the weapons that I find I like the randomness of the different builds you can get when playing at the fate’s whim. This evening I stumbled on a build that was so broken I had to share. And for the record, until recently, Revaal was my least favorite weapon. Man was I wrong about that. By the end of the run I took Typhon down so fast it was going immediately from phase to phase.

For weapon I was using Revaal with the aspect of Melinoë.

Jeweled Pom: Howling Soul

Hex :Selene’s Total Eclipse (no godsend)

Hammer’s (including experimental hammer in zone 4):

Possessed array (fires mega attack on shell retrieval)
Fetching array (shells fly back)
Rapid driver (specials are faster)

Core boons

Attack - Hera’s Sworn Strike for hitch
Special- Ares’ Vicious Flourish for wounds
Cast - Zeus’ Storm Ring
Dash - Apollo’s Blinding rush for daze
Mana regen - Apollo’s Lucid gain (restore magic on cast expire)

Boons (this is where it got crazy. I’ll list them by god and the duo’s at the end.)

Hera: Fine Line (omega moves cause a fissure)

Zeus:
Static shock
Electric overload
Power surge
Shocking Loss (Legendary)
Double Strike

Ares:
Cut above (omega moves cause a falling blade over each foe struck)
Grievous blow (foes with wounds may take 200% damage)

Apollo:
Super Nova

Hermes:
Hasty Retreat
Success rate (chances based effects are more likely to occur. This had a big impact on Zeus’ lightning bolts)
Stutter step

Athena:
Divine dash (reflect on dash. Didn’t need it but it was the best boom offered for this build)

Duo boons:
Ares and Apollo’s Cutting Edge (falling blades from Ares drop +1 time in succession and deal damage in a larger area)

This build was excessively magic heavy and could drain all my magic in 4 shells in the early zones but by the time I hit Olympus in zone 3 it wasn’t an issue. I’ve seen people talk about melting entire rooms and that’s what this did. Along with all the bosses. One shell. So much damage in each shell.

Possessed array and fetching array together are nuts. Every shell becomes an omega attack. Add Hera’s fine line and now every shell adds fissures. It’s also getting a blade from Ares’s Cut Above which is also being doubled by the duo Cutting Edge. Add Zeus’ lightning from the cast and all the chain lightning plus a higher success rate on double lightning strikes and Shocking Loss from Hermes’ Success Rate and you get to watch your screen go nuclear with blades, lightning, explosions and instant deaths. Chaos would be proud!

Combat (how to melt a room in 2 easy steps)

Point your cast to the middle of the group and fire away. Cast first then fire your shells. That’s it. When the cast drops your mana refills and you can fire away again. Fetching array sends your shells back to you so no need to worry about them. Rinse and repeat if needed to clear stragglers. You can stay at range for all fights for this if you want. I like to get into the middle of combat and be up close so I could use the special to get wounds on everything and proc origination for maximum damage. Also, you’re using mana at such a high rate so quickly that you can fire off your hex after almost every 4 shells.

This build was so much fun to play! I’m currently on my second full play through after having finished everything on my first with the exception of full fear runs. I usually just take whatever comes along and pick and choose my builds as I go but this one… the order in which the rng gods gave me everything… it was like the fates themselves set the run out ahead of time. Each boon fell perfectly into place and none were wasted. I didn’t even realize what I was building until halfway through the Rift of Thessaly and then it clicked. I didn’t get a hammer in the second zone but I got the second in Olympus and pulled Fetching Array and couldn’t believe my luck. At that point I realized I was unstoppable the rest of the run. I really love how after all this time I can still find a combination that I enjoy that really surprises me.
