First time watcher here. I have shit to say.

  1. Abby has to be the most annoying character I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing. How are you going to fall in love with a man who flogged you in public (I forget the actual term they used for when you get electrocuted with a cane thing). I know she has done many dumbfounding things that are even a bigger deal and more detrimental than this but this one just left me scratching my head. I would never be able to move past that even if I was the one in the wrong, sorry.

  2. Murphy was the best written character in the entire show. The development from this seemingly angry, bratty bully to this forgiving, responsible person who is a team player is amazing to witness. I think he and Emori saved each other.

  3. It was so infuriating in season 5 to watch a group of humans so incapable of reason that they'd rather destroy the last remaining piece of land than just share it. Yes, the convicts were the main aggravators of this but there are so many other choices that Octavia could have made that would have at least made things less terrible. She could have have had faith in Monty's algae Idea, he had proved it could work, but she was honestly so blood thirsty that it consumed her. She saw the sonic cannon in action and she thought she'd win a war against that with swords and spears? They had no chance from the very beginning. Season 5 Octavia had me crawling up the walls with rage. Just doing the most for no fucking reason.

  4. Lexa was not a good leader. She knowingly abandoned her people when they needed her the most. Also, the whole romance storyline between her and Clark didn't really fit or hit. Niylah and Clark would have even made more sense.

  5. Season 5 Bellamy is so daddy. I will not elaborate.

  6. I think Indra is very underappreciated. She could be stubborn at times, but her heart was always in the right place. She is a fierce warrior, a fierce mother, a fierce protector and guide.

  7. The whole ascending, shepherd storyline was very unnecessary to me. It even made me miss the raw, straight forward, tribe conflicts and battles of survival storylines of the earlier seasons which was the entire reason I was drawn to this show in the first place.

  8. I want to take this opportunity to thank Lincoln for starring in many of my bean flicking sessions. May we flick again.

  9. I genuinely respect Jasper. He acknowledged that it was all too much for him and he chose to bow out. I was upset with him at first because I thought the bromance between him and Monty should have been enough to keep him going but he was making everyone so miserable that for a moment I despised him.

  10. All in all as a lover of the post- apocalyptic genre, I enjoyed this show.

I can’t quite explain it but paintings have made me cry.

Frida Kahlo’s letter in the Salt Hill Journal untethered me from a person I’d loved and received with more hands than a parade of beggars. I’ve experienced euphoria at the hands of a paperback, sinking into worlds I can only dream of while sitting on my tulip green couch in the middle of July. I consume poetry like a woman starved, incessant longing, letting the words drown me in emotions we don’t have names for yet. You don’t understand, I would die for a song.

He understood. He called me poet every now and then and it melted me, such high praise. I leaned into his friendliness, his ease, the way he said my name. I liked that he laughed easily at things I said even though I’m really not a funny person. But I tried for him because at the end, I wanted him entertained, amused and comfortable. High off random stories, unfiltered thoughts and a few shots of Jameson. He was a beautiful thing to have, this boy. He would be a cool piece on the shelf on which I place humans that intrigue me.

Wanting just his body was enough for me at the time, I was seeking neither respect nor admiration. I rode in on a bruised heart, desperately wanting to prove to myself that having someone I desired would be a carelessly easy thing for me to do. Wanting to know that I always could, I just struggled to be carefree enough to test that theory. Recklessness does not come naturally to me, you see. I’ve made a habit of examining people, probing and poking and turning them inside out before deeming them safe enough to let them even knock on my door. And look at where that got me. Heartbroken in Nairobi, taking random shopping trips to keep myself from questioning every part of me I let the gifter of my broken heart see.

I could not have walked into shop at a better time. His framed art lined the black walls with prestige, a testament to his expertise, an assurance that I chose correctly. An invitation to stay.

“What are those weird looking hairless cats called?” I asked, pointing to one of the paintings. “Sphynx, is it?”

“Don’t call them weird, I like strange imperfections”

“You’re going to love me, then”

He laughed. I noticed how handsome he was, those kind brown eyes and dreadlocks that framed his dark face.

“Muthoni” I said, extending out my hand.

He shook my hand slowly, respectfully.

“Wachira” he said.

I choose you Wachira, I thought. You’ve been hereby appointed as the object of my craving. From this day forward, my alter ego shall live on through you, perpetually naughty, perpetually capable of flirting my way to your undressed body, ready, trembling with desire.

He lingered. I let him. I wanted his lips against mine. I wanted to see what other tattoos extended beyond his sleeve. I wanted to know if he fucks the way he painted; intensely, with strokes that commanded awe.

I get the hype.

Just finished BCS for the first time. I was drawn in immediately, fascinated by the characters and the cinematography. I could tell that I was going to enjoy it immensely just based off the first few episodes. And enjoy it I did.

I was especially intrigued by Kim's and Jimmy's relationship; the unspoken loyalty and a lack of romance(or raw chemistry) that a seemingly deep friendship replaced effortlessly. Also, is it just me or is Kim so hard to read? You know how you can tell the headspace that a character is in even before they say their line? I could never tell with Kim, her face was always so empty, and the development of her character slowly caught me off guard.

I was intrigued by how the character of Howard was presented, the douchebaggery first and then a weird normalcy where it felt like he was genuinely a guy trying to get by who maybe didn't deserve the douchebag label and then a realization that he is a douchebag after all, just maybe one who should have suffered a less abrupt, less terrible fate in the end?

I was intrigued by Nacho because my Lord, how can a human being be so good to look at? I love a show I can sink into and I can honestly say BCS has been worth every minute. The last four episodes of the final season, however, made me feel like I was being held hostage and I had to be there because I had to find out what happens because I've only come so far. I don't know, maybe it was the black and white.
