Does anyone else feel the fun just being sucked out of chess?

Hi all.

I will confess im not very good at chess. my rating is like 790 on 10 minute rapid.

I really like chess but havent the time at the ripe old age of 40 to learn the heck out of it. Im newish to the game (last 2 years or so).

Whenever i hit the rating of 800 its just people who really try hard and learn openings and stuff. i totally understand people wanting to better their game. no issue in that. But i just feel chess is becoming like gaming where fun is no longer a thing people want and its just winning.

No one who plays on chess.com.... or at least no one who is already a gm is going to win the fucking chess championship.

I'm just here asking for people to have fun and try some creative stuff and not follow a step by step process on how to play chess. The game in its conception wasnt designed that way. Although Ai would have us think different.

Look i know i'm moaning and im sorry but some people want to have fun. 800 is a low level. it shouldnt be a fortnite scrim.

im sure other people feel this way. I'm not asking for miracles. I'm just hoping people will see this and remember games are about fun.

Old man rant over and out.
