Leaves dropping already

Morning all,

Maple planted about 4 yrs ago, 1" Dia trunk about 6ft tall. Between Emporia and Suffolk VA.

Leaves turning brown and dropping mid Aug.

Been in drought here. Some say let mother nature take care of it. That doesn't seem to be working. More water, less isn't an issue with the drought. Add soil, fertilizer? I did fertilize early spring.. Check the soil for nutrients ? Not sure how. Could use some help.

Thanks all.

Leaving out overnight

Hey all,

Just a question, I know we will get attacked somehow.

JUST A QUESTION.

Do any of you fine folks just leave your adult sulcata out overnight?

We have 50 lb that has 1/2 acre fenced yard that he roams around. We have been in the mid to high 70s overnight. But we still walk him in to his mansion and close the door at night. I say just leave him out as he can come in when he wants. My wife is the opposite. He has never dug holes on the fence line, but he has his own den area in his mansion and seems pretty happy about it.

Thoughts?

Watering and general

MAPLE watering? New to this. So, sorry for some silly questions. VA area around between Suffolk and Emporia.

We have 3 maple trees all under 4 yrs or so.

Bought them online and seem to be doing ok.

The one pictured is what my question focuses on.

Why brown leaves on one side, facing west?

Also, do I have 2 trees growing here.

We are in a serious drought here, I try to keep the water moisture level around 3 or so.

Just keep watering? Or let it dry out for a bit.

Last year all the leaves dropped off very early, probably 4-6 weeks. Not enough water, stress?

Thanks

Old old subject on watering 2-3 year old maple during VA drought

Hey all,

OK have 3 maple trees all about 6 ft tall. I have had them 3 years or so.

Still learning alot.

2 are great 1 has brown leaves on the west side. The ground was very hard and the water would just sit on top for a long time.

About a week ago, I shoveled out about 3 inches and added black cow manure.

Watering is much better. Now, since we in VA and are in a serious drought, do I keep watering everytime the tree is dry, either checked by finger or water gauge (below 3)??

Thanks all
