New to running. Guidance and timeline suggestions.
Hey guys,
Recently ran my first 10k last week and it was exhilarating! Met my goal, which was a sub60 10k, really happy about that.
I want to graduate further to a HM maybe by the end of summer and then a FM by the end of 2027.
The thing is I don’t get a lot of training time. I’m a resident doctor and spend most hours of most days at work. I can squeeze in 1 session a week, maybe 2 sessions in some good weeks.
Even for the 10k I barely practiced a few 5k runs with never really running 10k before the actual race. Guess my background in high stamina sports (soccer and racquet sports) helped on race day, combined with the adrenaline.
Would it be viable to do a HM like this by the end of August/September ?
After my 10k I felt like I could run a few miles more but i do realise a HM is more than double a 10k and I certainly wouldn’t have been able to do that last week.
And in case this would be feasible, what would be a good training style given my time (and energy) constraints. Sorry, a noob when it comes to all this.
Thanks.
