Can we talk about what’s happening at Proctor Park? It’s getting out of hand.
Has anyone else noticed the surge in crime around Proctor Park lately? It feels like every time you turn around, there’s another incident, and it’s becoming a pattern we can’t ignore anymore.
What’s most upsetting is the children’s playground. It has become a magnet for sketchy people hanging out at all hours, openly doing drugs and dealing with "business" right where families are trying to bring their kids. It’s not just a "once in a while" thing—it’s happening constantly. Visitors cars being broken into and belongings stolen.
The worst part? There are zero cameras at the playground to protect visitors or deter this behavior.
How is it that in 2026, one of our main parks doesn't have basic surveillance? We need the city to step up. We need:
- High-definition cameras installed immediately at the playground.
- Facial recognition technology to identify repeat offenders.
- Direct links to the UPD so they can monitor the feed and respond in real-time before things escalate.
Our kids deserve a place to play without stepping over needles or feeling unsafe. Has anyone else reached out to the City Council or UPD about this? What is it going to take for them to actually secure the park?
