spitting stitches

spitting stitches

i’m 7wks post op and while i’m generally really happy with my results, i’ve had at least 6 spots with spitting stitches (no stitches actually seen any time) and it’s really frustrating to see my scars widen as a result. i also haven’t been able to do scar care beyond massage because i’ve consistently had openings/scabs for the last 3 weeks or so

is there anything i can do to reduce the affect of them or better yet prevent the stitches from spitting?

just had my one month post op appointment (more like almost 5wks) DI w FNG and was cleared to return to basically normal living again. i can exercise (including chest and overhead movements), swim, run, and raise my arms all with caution considering i’ve been out of it for a while. i’m also free of dressings for my grafts!

while i’m thrilled, i know it’s not the usual timeline. just curious if anyone has had a similar experience and if returning to activities so soon had any impact on final results.
