I’ve been running for a few years now, and I’ve realized that no matter how much I train, the real battle is always a mental battle.
Last year, I was training for a marathon while living far away from my family. I hit that infamous "wall" and I kept imagining how much easier it would be if I could just hear a quick voice note from my kids or my best friend right at that moment—not a text I have to stop and read, but just their voice in my ear when the climb gets steep or the legs feel like lead.
I couldn't find a simple way to do this without my family having to wake up at 3 AM (time zones are a pain) or me having to fiddle with my phone while running.
So, I spent the last few months building Cobbr : encouragements running. It’s a simple app where you can list your race and send a unique link to your "cheering squad." They record messages and "drop" them at specific kilometers. When you hit that exact spot on the route, the app triggers the audio automatically through your headphones.
It’s currently out on the App Store (Android is in the works!) under "Cobbr : encouragements running."
I’m honestly just looking for some feedback from fellow runners:
- Is "mid-run audio support" something you actually find helpful, or do you prefer total silence/music?
- At which kilometer do you usually need the most "mental" help? (For me, it’s always the 25...)
I’d love for you guys to check it out and tell me if the flow makes sense or what’s missing.
Enjoy your runs!
