~$106/$130 BC250s on Aliexpress

Unfortunately the one at $166 is going in/out of stock. The same seller is selling them for $196 and that one is staying in stock. With the coupon stacks and rakuten cashback, it's still a decent deal - but if you manage to get lucky and see the $166 one in stock, it's a no brainer.

$196 link: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256810471692576.html

For the coupon stuff:

Paying with paypal = $15 off stackable coupon

$32 off coupon for purchase over $159: IFPIQ0Y5, IFPEOURC, EVO32A

Rakuten enabled = 19% cashback

I got pretty lucky, and once the rakuten cashback hits that means I basically snagged a bc250 for $106. YMMV, GL! : D

$300 5.4L - DIY Machine for Steam Gaming

Hey all, I’m pretty excited to share my build! It’s using the asrock bc250 (ps5 apu turned into cryptomining card) as the core. Recently some smart folks figured out to enable the disabled CUs on these things, which helped uplift performance by significant margin. Gpu wise with overclocks it’s comparable between a rx6600 -> rx7600 in game benchmarks. Pretty close in performance to the real steam machine as well.

The case is a fully 3d printed, screwless design. I didn’t make the original model, but I did create a remix after modifying a bit of everything. One of those mods was changing the face to be more fractal-esque, which then led me to making custom swappable front plates for the case. Both the upper and lower sections of the front face are customizable and swappable. I had a lot of fun with printing a convincing fake wood texture! The case can be downloaded here, and also has tons of extra information like thermal performance, part list links, assembly instructions, and more: https://makerworld.com/models/3021754?appSharePlatform=copy

Part List:
$125 bc250 (bought 2 months ago, now its like $50 more expensive…)
$30 psu (fsp500-30as originally meant for intel nuc’s lol)
$23 fans (noctua nf a4x20 and arctic p12 pro)
$8 for set of 3 latching buttons
$27 wifi bt tplink ax900 dongle
$10 worth of filament
$60 1tb nvme bought 2 years ago (had it sitting in a batocera minipc as a secondary drive not being used lol)
$20 stick on heatsinks
$303 total

Finally Finished (for now…)

Hey everyone, I posted my remixed case (thanks morph for the original model!) about 2 weeks ago and was pretty surprised by how well everything was received. It definitely motivated me to polish things up a bit more lol

Since then, I’ve been working on adding some more customizations. The biggest two being:
- case now fits fsp, apevia, and metalfish flex psus
- now there are customizable front plate models, so you can personalize things even more!

Also I spent a bit of time gathering thermals from about 10 games. Max temps are low 70s for the games I’ve tested.

Full details and model link can be found here (part list, assembly instructions, game thermal chart, etc): https://makerworld.com/models/3021754?appSharePlatform=copy

Finally joined the club!

I wanted to modify an existing case to fit my psu (fsp500-30as), then ended up overhauling a bigger chunk than I originally intended 😅

One kinda interesting thing I used was stick on heatsinks to attach to the original heatsink, with a fanshroud that applies active airflow to both the og heatsink and the modded one. It ended up improving my thermals ingame by 3-7C (w/40CU @ 2000MHz). Also modified the back so it could mount 40mm fan(s). All in all, I'm very happy with the result : )

This is a remix from morph91's original model. My remix can be found here with an assembly guide: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3021754-bc250-case-mkuu-plus . I created versions to work with both the FSP500-30AS and Apevia itx flex psus. The case is about ~5.4L in size, and has plastic clips to hold the two halves together.
