i really love these two pieces of fanart, shows how bittersweet it is

ok this page definitely caught my eye cause it's teen shio and i saw the text on the side and really wanted to know what it said so i'll share it here (we really need official translators for this and the fanbook lol)

translated into english it says:

She was a devoted child who, despite her youth, strove earnestly to support Satou while basking in her love. kinda sucks english speaking fans miss out on such an important detail when it comes to shio and even kagisora saying herself that shio willingly accepted sato offer because she wanted to be an innocent girl again. i can't help but think what other stuff are we missing out on ? something similar was said about shio profile in the fanbook and once i get around to cleaning it up i'll share it here !! what do you guys think ?

this post i'm making is inspired by this post so let's get started this might be a long one so stay with me

alright so i'm starting this with a more controversial take: Satou is more similar to Taiyo than most viewers would like to admit and this directly ties into her trauma with auntie

out of all the villains in HSL, Satou was way more willing to talk to Taiyo directly and actually was more softer on him compared to let's say the teacher or asahi

You of all people should understand.

"you of all people should understand" is a VERY interesting line even if Satou is just playing it up. Because when it came to the teacher she didn't try to pretend to relate to him. She says herself "i definitely can't relate to that. You're just a masochist pervert" but with Taiyo? She's saying out of everyone he should be able to understand her

in Taiyo's POV, he's confused why someone he thinks isn't as traumatized as him would risk everything for Shio. he sees satou as a very competent girl who's very smart and cunning and yet doesn't understand why she's so set on shio. but doesn't realize they share a lot of similarities being victims of SA and that Satou has been so hurt and traumatized she can't live a "regular happy life". It's very telling when Taiyo says this like he's incapable of living that "regular happy life"

\"Why are you so fixated on Shio? Matsuzaka-san... You could live a regular happy life\"

I feel like this detail of Satou having similarities is relevant to the actual analysis I'll be getting into because a lot of people don't consider they've gone through similar things yet carry themselves differently

A very disturbing moment many people don't talk about is the second Sumire said "i love you" (in a romantic sense keep this in mind) satou starts having flashbacks to auntie saying "satou chan this too is love"

A lot of the screenshots i'll provide here of auntie support the fact that auntie didn't just expose satou to sex/abuse, she did something to satou directly. because why else would this trigger satou so badly ? Satou isn't shown to necessarily hate Sumire but she invaded her privacy and her own personal life and wants to be like her which ties into something i'll mention later. for satou to feel disturbed by Sumire is understandable but to start having flashbacks to specifically auntie is interesting

interestingly enough there's a lot of parallels to auntie and satou relationship vs satou and shio relationship specifically the different energy during bath times. satou looks incredibly uncomfortable bathing with auntie, staring off to the distance with the background turning into what looks like rain drops.

\"The two of us have always been together.\"

it also makes this conversation that auntie has with shio more morbid than at first glance

\"That's all? Oh my, how surprising~\"

i firmly believe satou and auntie bath time wasn't just innocent bathing. auntie asking unaware shio this question is horrifying once you think about the fact auntie wants to see if satou has made any sexual advances towards shio in the bath. the way auntie asks shio is like she wants to know more and even sounds disappointed "That's all?" most normal people would go "yeah washing each other and playing with her hair sounds normal" but to auntie she's looking for something more sinister, almost like she wants to see if satou has become like her. even satou face says a lot about this interaction because she knows how demented auntie is

when satou first enters auntie home in the manga/anime, she starts getting terrible flashbacks and memories when she lived with auntie as well even before entering she's hearing auntie voice saying her name.

\"Wait-\"

A bitter room locked away

\"Whatever your desires, I will satisfy them all\" with a teddy bear with its head ripped off

\"Sato-chan\" \"It's fine.\" \"Do whatever you want.\" \"Okay?\"

\"That's what love is.\"

again, if auntie didn't touch satou why would she react so badly to the police suggesting to open that room ? what happened there ?? it's the same room we see where auntie tells satou "whatever your desires are i will satisfy them". while auntie is assaulting the police officer satou starts having flashbacks to the things auntie has told her and starts looking incredibly upset. whenever this is being triggered by the fact she heard and potentially watched auntie fuck men or remembering her own trauma is still concerning, i think a lot of people don't realize satou trauma is so much more deeper than just being exposed to it

this is not the behavior of "my auntie exposed me to an unclean environment and exposed me to sex" it's "she fucking ruined me and destroyed my innocence and touched me". young sato looks at auntie horrified with the teddy bear head ripped off while she says she will satisfy any desire

\"I'm happy, surrounded by love . But then, why? Why is there... This gaping hole in the center of my chest?\"

there's many imagery like this so many people gloss over. "surrounded by love" and it's auntie being the one to embrace her while holding a jar of hard candy looking empty. with auntie smiling very sinister. in a panel where auntie seems like a loving caring family member, it couldn't be further from the truth. after all didn't it seem like auntie forgot her "duty"?

\"fufu... duty? i've never thought about duty.\"

\"It is the guardian's duty to guide the child\"

now this detail i've noticed might sound crazy to some people but a lot of satou outfits when she was a child is very long and very long sleeve clothing. which can definitely add onto the fact that she was touched and a lot of victims of CSA might wear heavy clothing/clothing that doesn't reveal much as a trauma coping way to deal with what happened to them. it also weirdly parallels auntie outfit in a way but you can see satou is more reserved as a kid. we don't really see shio dressed this way either despite coming from an abusive home

This is such a powerful panel. auntie tried to give satou her teddy bear before she leaves. the act of satou tossing back her bear to auntie because it was one of the few things that helped preserve her innocence, giving it back to her abuser and saying "i don't need this anymore, i finally found some tranquility". this is one of the few times we see satou as a child very hopeful/happy especially around auntie. baby satou is taking control of her trauma here, running away from auntie into freedom "maybe i can start healing now"

\"I feel like i've finally lost the small bitter, tainted shard that was lodged in my heart\"

now tying into the whole reason why i think satou started getting flashbacks when Sumire said she loved her while trying to be like satou. first thing first, satou gets incredibly uncomfortable and nausea when auntie says she loves her.

and then suddenly auntie starts taunting satou saying "you'll become an unfair and corrupt adult like me" almost like auntie wants her to. she mentions she was living in solitude before and possibly wants satou to be just like her, broken beyond help. almost like auntie envied satou innocence and wanted to destroy it. "so keep being a pure and idealistic child while you can" "you're just an adorable child" sounds like she was there herself too and then something happened. (refer to the post images)

i typically play sky on steam, specifically steam deck. there's an area i want to put a share space but i can't. it's a oob specifically so this typically wouldn't make sense. but my friend is able to place a share space there but i cant. then i tried on ios with my account, doesnt work. then i tried my friend account on ios, doesnt work. im going crazy lol is this some sort of bug or something my friend plays on android. i notice when it comes to share spaces i cant do it but other people can and i been playing for like 5 years.
