Finished My First SQL Project — Looking for the Next Challenge

Just wrapped up my SQL Project #1

Every project teaches me something new, and this one was no exception.

Now, instead of working with datasets from Kaggle, I'm thinking of taking the next step—working with a real-world database and building an end-to-end project, including an interactive dashboard.

My goal isn't to rush through tutorials or collect certificates. I simply want to keep learning, improve with every project, and enjoy the process of getting better.

For those who are already working in Data Analytics or have been on this journey:

  • What would you recommend I focus on next?
  • Where can I find good real-world datasets or databases to work with?
  • Any advice that you wish someone had given you when you were at this stage?

I'd genuinely appreciate your suggestions. Every bit of feedback helps me grow......!

What's the reality of getting a Data Analyst role in 2026?

I've recently completed my MBA and am looking to build a career in Data Analytics.

I'm currently learning SQL and was planning to move on to Python (Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, Spyder, etc.) afterward. However, I'm trying to understand what companies actually expect from entry-level Data Analysts.

  • How important is SQL compared to Python?
  • How much Python is typically required?
  • What skills are most commonly asked for in interviews?
  • If you were starting today, what would you focus on first?

What keeps you moving forward when the excitement is gone?

Whether it's a business, a job, a skill you're learning, a side project, or any long-term goal...
What keeps you going when you get bored? Starting something new is exciting, but eventually the novelty fades and it can start feeling repetitive or routine.

What helps you stay committed during those phases? Is it discipline, habit, a bigger goal, responsibility, or something else?

What's the most promising low-investment business idea in today's market?

I'm curious to hear what people would choose if they were starting from scratch today.

Let's say you have a limited but reasonable budget to invest (around $5k-$10k), no existing business, and no special connections.

What low-investment business would you start in today's market, and why?

I'm interested in ideas that are realistic, scalable, and have strong demand over the next few years.

How did you learn SQL when you were a beginner?

As I'm completely new to SQL, I tried using ChatGPT to get some guidance, but I think it's better to hear directly from people who have gone through this phase.

Where should I start to improve my SQL skills? I have around 15–20 days that I can dedicate to learning and practicing, but I have no idea where to begin.

Also, how important is SQL for becoming a Data Analyst? Does being good at SQL make a significant difference in the role?
