Dog barks a lot, including at night. What to do?
So I’m on a sit right now where I quickly discovered that the dog barks at every single passer by. I was misled by the HO and told that the dog only does so in very specific circumstances, and that it’s not much of an issue at all, when in reality the dog will bark even at night if there’s someone passing by.
I’m still here for another 2 weeks. What can I do to make them bearable? I can deal with it during the days, but I haven’t been getting much sleep, and it’s starting to take a toll.
I’ve tried obstructing her view of the outside but she still barks when she hears things. I also tried putting her in an area of the house where she can’t see or hear as much, like a ground floor basement of sorts (overnight only), but she hates it there and refuses to go in once she figured out what’s happening. I don’t want to traumatize her by fording her in and sequestering her either, even though it seemed to help a lot with the barking. She started to get nervous around the time she knew she’d be going in that room so I didn’t want to force it (she’s also a rescue dog so a bit nervous as is)
Really at a loss here.
