I hate feeling out of control of my body. Advice or support?

I recently got results from my MSLT, which essentially confirms I have narcolepsy. It’s relieving, but at the same time, it does feel jarring and sad to think about how many years I’ve spent (and likely will spend) having limited control over when I get a sleep attack and need to sleep. Sometimes I just sleep and sleep and sleep, and it’s not enough. I want to pursue academia, where it requires you to be fairly productive most of the time, and I am just at mercy of my body deciding whether or not I can do things that day or hour :( Any tips or support?

What does an MSLT look like for a person without narcolepsy/IH?

I just received my sleep test results, and I’m pretty sure it reflects narcolepsy (5.5 minutes on average latency, 2 SOREMP). I’m wondering what at MSLT would look like for someone without narcolepsy/IH? Maybe it’s because I’m so used to being sleepy that I would expect most people to fall asleep quickly during the naps if they get the opportunity 😅😅

For successful applicants, how many PhD in Clinical Psychology programs did you apply for?

Title above! If comfortable disclosing, please let me know what type of school you’re at now (i.e., R1/R2/R3), if that was a top choice for you, the number of schools you applied to, and the spread of schools in which you applied (e.g., majority R1/R2, “big name,” etc.)
