Tiger Lake / Alder Lake-N Xe iGPU acceleration working on macOS Big Sur
I'm not calling this "working" just because the framebuffer loads. Metal, OpenGL, and hardware video decoding actually work.
This is an initial release, so support is currently limited to specific hardware configurations running macOS Big Sur. DisplayPort and HDMI output are working on tested Tiger Lake and Alder Lake-N systems, including Intel N100-based machines.
I haven't tested laptops or USB-C display output yet, and Alder Lake-P and Raptor Lake aren't supported yet either. I plan to get the necessary hardware and work on these next.
I started with Big Sur because of the compatibility requirements of the AppleTGLGraphics drivers this project is based on. I also plan to develop patches for newer macOS versions, up to Tahoe.
The project consists of a Lilu plugin and an OpenCore Legacy Patcher fork that provides the required root patches. Root patching is required, but disabling AMFI is unnecessary thanks to my modified version of AMFIPass.
