One final destruction compilation before we switch things up this week. SLS hooks, master rings, snatch blocks, tie-down chain compared to Grade 100 chain — all showing very different spectacles of destruction.

You can see the hardware stretching, bending, and permanently deforming before it finally lets go. It’s especially interesting how little give the Grade 70 chain has compared to the Grade 100.

This is exactly why ductile failure is generally safer than brittle failure it gives you visible warning before the break.

Always interesting to watch how different pieces behave right at the limit.
