below 70 is considered extremely low, 70 to 79 is borderline, 80 to 89 is low average, 90 to 109 is average where 50% of people land, 110 to 119 is high average, 120 to 129 is superior, 130 and above is very superior or gifted, and anything above 45 is exceptionally rare to the point where the tests struggle to measure it accurately

what i found interesting is how wide the average band is. half the population sits in just a 19 point range which makes a score like 112 feel more meaningful than it sounds at first

took it through OnlineJobs and got 112. test covers 15 subtests across 6 cognitive abilities: spatial, verbal reasoning, working memory, processing speed, and reaction time. so it is not just pattern puzzles and word problems, it is a lot more comprehensive than most online tests

got 112 on RIOT IQ through OnlineJobs and iy got me actually looking into what IQ even is. turns out it is not just a single measure of how smart you are. it is a standardized score that compares your performance on a set of cognitive tasks against others in your age group
the average is always set at 100 by design. so a 1112 means you are above the average of everyone who took the same type of test, not that you answered 112 questions correctly or anything like that

what surprised me is that IQ is not one thing. it is a composite of multiple abilities like reasoning, memory, processing speed, and spatial thinking all rolled into one number. RIOT actually shows you each ability separately which makes the single score feel a lot more meaningful when you can see what is driving it

got 112 on RIOT IQ and the report called it Above Average which sounds great until you realize 50% of people score between 91 and 109 and only 8% score between 121 and 135

so to put it in perspective. 120 puts you in the top 9% which is genuinely impressive. 130 puts you in the top 2% which is the threshold most people associate with being gifted. 160 is so rare its is almost impossible to norm accurately because there are not enough people at that level to build a proper sample

the weird thing is that past a certain point the scores stops mattering much in daily life. the difference between 100 and 120 shows up in real outcomes but the difference between 140 and 160 is basically impossible to measure reliably
