Despite being relatively uncommon, camel archers dominate portrayals of mediaeval Arabian warfare in modern media, especially in video games like age of empires and the civilization series. Where does the popularization of the camel archer come from?
My understanding, and this might be based on a false premise, is that camel cavalry was either used where horses would otherwise be impractical or as anti-horse Lancer units.
