VA POLICE 1801 RUMOR MILL

Anyone have any credible context to this and the restructuring( what does that look like moving forward?

Non competitive grade increases?

Looser policies (no more arming up or down there)

Greater rope to do TDY assignments and task forces? Etc.

What’s the purpose of this supposed 1801 transition?

BOP - Anyone immediately offered GL-08 from the outside?

Currently faced with a decision for the sake of "stopping the clock" before aging out, however, I wanted to know if you've been a non 6c/12d 1801/1811/0083 or another series and have GS or GL-07 or greater for over 12 months and obviously meet the time and grade and you've got a host of education, training, certs, fletc, etc - were you offered GL-08 out the gate?

I know for this DHA correctional officer announcement, you can't go higher than GL-08 as a CO within BOP; however, it would be nice to start out as an 8 if you're already a 7 or a 9 elsewhere and clearly have the LE experience articulated on the USajobs that can be verified.

I've never worked in corrections, always local and fed law enforcement. USAJOBS offered the lowest I'd accept, and I put 8. Wondering why I'm given paperwork for a 7. Is that normal?

VA fixes police force - Thoughts?

Any inside info?

Like SOLID info?

If done correctly, I think finally getting VA Police to the modernized place they deserve would be HUGE. I don't know any other LE agency with as many 0083-Police spread across the United States.

I just wish it were non-competitive grade increases, like FPS, automatic 7, 9, 11, 12, etc.

Heck, even take-home cars/government work-to-home car program. Which, honestly, for many VAs, would make sense if their duties include going to CBOCs for inspections, these cemeteries, and adding to their duties within their locales. TDY opportunities.

Even abolishing VA LETC and opting for people to get their UPTP and CITP from FLETC, a cert that's portable and of greater value! Probably more efficient!

Thoughts?!

FPS Special Agents (1811) who were prior FPS Inspectors/Law Enforcement Specialists (1801) w/o prior military service

Hello all,

May someone answer the following: If you're hired at age 36 as an 1801 with FPS (Inspector/Law Enforcement Specialist) and have no prior military service, but later, when you're 40 or 41 or beyond, an 1811 role may pop up.

As a current 1801 at that point within the same agency (FPS), would you be eligible for that position, since you'll be beyond the 37 maximum age limit? To my understanding, prior military and law enforcement stops the clock; however, I didn't know if FPS 1801s were in that category, especially since the 1801s still aren't getting LEAP/6(c). Any insight would be appreciated.
