Rehome a 6 year old guinea pig?

Rehome a 6 year old guinea pig?

Hi all! We had two guinea pigs from three (one passed about a week and a half ago, and her bonded partner also passed after being very sad and developing a sinus infection). ***we did take her to the vet as soon as possible and they gave her some fluids, as well as antibiotics to take home which we gave her on time and everything. But unfortunately she still passed away. Now we only have one guinea pig. I’ve had her for almost 6 years now, and love her a lot but we aren’t looking to get any more Guinea pigs so she would not have a companion if she stays in our home. We are thinking about whether to rehome her (there is a great shelter near us for guinea pigs) but she is almost 6 now so I’m not sure if it would be a good idea. She’s in good health and very lively, and we definitely don’t want her to be alone but I’ve had her for so long (she’s my first pig) that I feel uneasy especially with her age. If anyone has a similar situation or any advice please reply!

Guinea pig not eating after death of bonded partner

Hi all! I’m sharing to hopefully get some help about what to do with my guinea pig who’s bonded partner passed away about a week ago. She was okay the first few days but has since been sleeping and lying down a lot in her hidey, not really wanting to come out for veggies, or even treats. She does have another guinea pig in her enclosure who is perfectly okay and they are both usually pretty lively, but the one who was bonded to the one who passed is seeming very sad. Any idea how to help her? We’ve been cuddling her a lot and trying to lure her out with veggies and treats but she’s reluctant to even eat anything, which is worrying.
