Sorry for the rubbish photos. From Holden Nationals 2025 in Christchurch, NZ.

4.9L V8 HDT enhanced Holden Calais. - Calais is the top spec in the Commodore range. Have added a picture of what they look like stock at the end (minus the enormous intercooler).

From the HDT website:

The VL ‘Sport by HDT’ kits were available for virtually the entire range of Commodores and were available in six-Cylinder, turbo six and V8 configurations. These ultra rare option packed VL’s underwent engine, body work and suspension tweaks.

Suspension consisted of Brock’s ‘System One’ springs and gas pressure shocks. Wheels were HDT 15 x 7″ Aero’s with flush fitting covers as standard, but many buyers opted for the larger 16 inch version. Body mods consisted of a body coloured grill, air dam, side skirts and rear spoiler

Momo rims were also optional, so starting with a Calais and with all the right boxes ticked, your Sport would look much like an LE.

The turbo engines received a modifed improved cold air intake and a big bore exhaust while the V8’s copped blueprinted heads, HDT modified carby and a big bore exhaust system.
