you can never ever satisfy anyone
So, here's the back story, this is what i scored in my class 12th board exams and i was happy with my marks. And just for background, i am not into JEE/NEET, i have already received an acceptance (abroad) for Bach.
So, on the day of the results, my parents were somewhat happy about the results.
Only for my friend's mom to come at our house to gloat about her son's score.
He scored 99.2% (non-medical) and obvio state topper.
While discussing about her son's future direction (JEE - IIT stuff), she started throwing out some stats regarding the ROI for IIT and at the same time, consciously belittling the idea of leaving the country and to pursue higher education in those 'so called expensive schools'
I don’t believe in rankings, but the place where I’m going to continue my education is currently ranked among the top 20 worldwide.
For 3 hourssssss, all they talked about was how great IIT is and blah blah blah. And how I should have given that exam (JEE). Plus, telling my parents that how easy is to score in board exams and also, like her son's score in JEE was pretty solid like +99.8 percentile - just to put that in perspective.
One of the comments she made was, “Only those students go abroad who fail to get into the top institutes in India."
Fast forward, yesterday, during breakfast, my parents started comparing me with him and my dad regretting that why i never gave that exam (JEE) and you know how great IIT is.
Heated argument for almost 2 hours and i had to finally quit arguing.
