What beats a Cali sunset?

First time running the 6000 combo I got for 60 bucks from Walmart on sale. I own lots of penns but no 6000s. Went for larger sharks but only got a small shovelnose. But can you beat the view?

2 croakers and a sargo catch and cook.

Not sure how many people here keep fish to eat from the Cali surf. This is my favorite easiest way to cook them and it always comes out with nice tender white meat. First time trying sargo and it def blows croaker out the water, however croaker is def underrated in my opinion. Let me know if anyone has other ways they like to cook their SoCal fish. I’ve only ever done fried fish or tacos with the filets aswell!

First sargo from the surf! A pretty rare catch. Anyone else pull these up from the surf?

Caught this guy on sandcrabs on a beach next to no harbors or inlets so quite a cool and rarer catch.

Started fishing here last summer and it was crazy fun and good. Bout 100 fish I pulled out in a few months. Bout 1-2 months ago the water quality died and now it’s REALLY bad. Not sure if anything will survive now.

Thought I’d try freshwater (paid lake) and have to say in SoCal freshwater is rough unless ur sneaking into private ponds and golf courses. Only fish for the day, def gonna stick to other bodies of water that are free.

From November 2024, but just got to posting and thought to show off my favorite catch to date. My first halibut was a biggin, and made for good eats. I was a noob and didnt even have a leader just 20lb braid with a sinking lure.
