Would you still refrain your blueberry plant from flowering the first year if you bought a bigger plant?

Hello! I feel like the consistent recommendations for blueberries are to let them settle in the first year by picking off the flowers to help the plant establish itself for better yields.

I recently bought a much bigger plant and now about the size of my blueberry plants that I let establish for their first year. I plant them on half size wine barrels (thats the only way they survive for me in zone 9B). Should I still pick off the flowers the first year or is it ok to let this new blueberry plant fruit this upcoming season since its a much bigger plant?

Can I grow garlic in this?

Has anyone successfully grown garlic vertically before?

With garlic needing 9 months prior to harvest, I’m thinking of buying one of this as a dedicated spot for it instead of sacrificing one of my deeper raised garden beds. It’s also more cost effective than setting up another raised garden beds but I’m just not sure if it’s going to work out. Appreciate any help!

Help!! I can’t seem to grow bush green beans

I’m not sure why but I cannot seem to grow bush green beans in my garden. They are so prone to pests?

Everyone says they are so easy but my green beans keep getting decimated with spider mites and thrips. I thought it was just a variety problem so I’m growing 4 different kids and again it is being attacked with every single pests. I’ve successfully grown pole beans in the same raised bed but somehow bush beans just keeps dying on me. I’ve been spraying with neem oil and re-spraying to catch different stages of the pest (top and bottom leaves) but can’t seem to get them under control. Should I just cut them all down and accept my loss? Anybody else who is running with same issues?

EDIT: Thank you all so much for the advice. Looks like I have quite a few pests here. Going to try insecticidal soap along with blasting these beans with water. Will cut my losses if that doesn’t work out.

Raised Beds Compost Bins

Hello! I have two raised bed compost bins with earthworms that are doing well. I’m wondering though how do I go about harvesting some of the compost left behind. Are people scooping up the contents inside the raised beds compost bins and sifting through it?

Fall Planting

What is everyone planting for fall? Anyone starting any seeds indoors or ordering any specific seeds? What do people generally do to refresh/amend their soil? First year gardening in the fall so I’m trying to gather ideas!

Just ordered my garlic bulbs and have pepper and tomato plants ready for transplants in August.
