Hello, I was accepted into the inside wire program this week I am trying to figure out how long it would be until I get a consistent schedule and income. Is the orientation period paid and how long is it? Do I enter a job site right after or is there a waiting period? I have to move in order to take advantage of this opportunity so I am just trying to guage things financially early on. Thank you!

Hi, I was asked by another user to post some data.
Last Name Letter: T
Applied: January 29, 2026
GAN Form Submitted: End of February (Can't find exact date)
GAN Test: April 18, 2026
Acceptance: June 29, 2026
Exprience: I dont have any construction or electrical experience. I did take some electrical engineering courses at ASU through a scholarship for their online degree programs. I completed a couple labs there as well. I also took an electrical theory course through a utility company in Washington state where I am from.
Education: I have a bachelor's degree in Finance.
I believe the main thing that helped me was the process for this local. Many others locals do an interview model which I believe favors those with exprience as they can give relevant examples. The GAN test model helped me out quite a bit because the test carried more weight. I have extensive exprience with math as well as physics so the test was not difficult. I recommend applying to multiple locals and really focusing on the one where you may carry some advantge to getting in.
Hello, I got accepted into the inside wire metro program yesterday. For current members i was wondering if anyone can give me an estimate on startup costs? For examples, tools costs and any fees that might come up. Thank you.
Hello, I recently got my rank and ended up in the top 10. I know work is slow for this local so I was wondering if I had any chance? Thank you.
Does Local 46 test for weed? I dont smoke regulary but I have recently at a concert.
If anyone has any insight, how long is the wait for a material handler position at 332?
Hey everyone, I had a question for anyone in or who has gone through the apprenticeship/application process.
On the off chance I do get accepted, how much time do they usually give you between finding out you got in and actually starting work/classes? I’m not local to the DC area right now, so I’m trying to get a realistic idea of how much time I’d have to plan a move if it happens.
Not trying to get ahead of myself — just trying to prepare and understand the timeline a little better. Appreciate any insight from people who’ve been through it.
Thank you
