Looking for some advice on my issue.

I’ve been in my rental property in NSW for about 9 months. At first I was on a 6 month lease before the lease lapsed in February and we have been on a periodic lease since then.

I’ve now been sent a new 6 month lease to sign, but it’s backdated to February when the last lease expired.

I’ve never had a real estate agent request to backdate a lease before and am trying to figure out what it means and how I should respond. Ideally I want a longer term lease, 12–36 months if possible. Any advice on how to navigate this would be appreciated 🙏
