I spent weeks writing my first book.
Editing, formatting, cover… everything.
Finally published it.
I genuinely thought sales would start coming in.
But after 2 weeks… nothing.
Not even a single sale.
At first I thought maybe the book wasn’t good enough.
But then I started digging deeper.
And I realized something uncomfortable:
No one even knew my book existed.
I was relying completely on Amazon to “do the marketing” for me.
No content, no audience, no traffic.
Looking back, it makes sense.
Why would anyone buy a book they’ve never seen?
So I changed my approach.
Instead of focusing on writing more, I started focusing on visibility.
I began turning parts of my book into small content pieces
and sharing them on different platforms.
Nothing crazy, just consistently showing up.
Slowly, I started getting clicks.
Then a few sales.
Still early, but way better than zero.
I guess the biggest lesson for me was:
Publishing is just step one.
If nobody sees your work, it doesn’t matter how good it is.
Curious how others here are handling promotion.
Are you relying on Amazon or doing external marketing too?
