Moved into a house about 8 years ago that has a fiberglass pool (in ground) that is approximately 30+ years old. Overall the pool, for it's age is in great shape, but there are some spots where it appears the finish has been removed.

I started to look at options for refinishing a fiberglass pool and it seems like there are really only 3 options: Gel coat, Ecofinish, or replace. The problem with the first two is that everyone has mixed reviews, saying that Gel coats can only be applied at the factory, and the Ecofinish wears off in a few years.

I plan to stay in our house for at least 10 more years, so I would like something that would last at least that long, if not much longer.

What if any experience does everyone have when it comes to these two solutions for older Fiberglass pools?
