sRGB Mode Completely Fixed My Eye Strain
Hey, I just wanted to share this in case anyone else has the same issue.
I’m pretty new to gaming and about a year ago I bought an MSI 4K 120Hz monitor for my PS5. The image quality is amazing, no complaints there. But ever since I got it, my eyes would get insanely dry and painful after only 30 minutes to 1 hour of gaming, followed by headaches that would literally last the whole day unless I slept and waited until the next day.
At first I thought maybe the screen was too big for my room setup, but recently while playing Bloodborne every day during vacation, it became unbearable. Even with brightness at 0, super low contrast, warm color temperature, and blue light filter enabled, I’d still get eye strain and headaches after around an hour.
I honestly thought the monitor was just messed up and was ready to sell it and buy a cheaper one (I’m broke right now lol), because gaming was becoming impossible.
Then I found Reddit posts from people with the exact same problem on completely different monitors, so I figured it had to be a setting issue. Someone suggested trying sRGB mode. I didn’t expect much, but wow… that was literally the solution.
Today I played Bloodborne for like 6 hours (with a few breaks), brightness at 50, in a brightly lit room, and I had ZERO eye strain, ZERO headache, absolutely nothing. I’m honestly shocked because before, even 30 minutes could ruin my whole day.
So yeah, if you’re having crazy eye strain on a gaming monitor, try sRGB mode. It completely saved my eyes.
