I have two 70's Peavey heads (one mine, one a friends) with excessive noise and volume dropping issues. Last year I replaced the caps on my 80s JC-77 for similar issues so I have a bit of experience.
One calls for 5000uf/55v power caps, the other calls for 6000uf/45v, which are hard to find/expensive on Mouser. Would there be concerns with using 4700uf or 6800uf for both as long as the voltage rating is sufficient? Does the capacitance drastically affect noise or performance?
