Quit smoking cigs but not sure I won
I smoked cigarettes for just over 10 years. A pack every day, marlboro red aswell, the kind of habit that just becomes part of your operating system. First cig starts with a coffee before I was even fully awake, last one on the fire escape before bed. Living in NYC didn't help either, you step outside for any reason and there's someone lighting up within ten feet of you. I tried quitting maybe five or six times over the years. Patches, gum, Zyn. Longest I ever made it was six weeks before a bad week at work ended that streak in about 40 minutes. By the time I hit my mid 30s I wasnt even enjoying smoking, felt more like a chore. The sleep started going bad around the same time, around 2 or 3 times a week I used to see the sunrise.
Talked with a friend, big pothead btw and guess what lol, he suggested smoking weed. First time I tried it I was playing a game on my phone and I realized about an hour in that I hadn't once gotten up to step outside for a cigarette. Something about the smoking pot quietly killed the craving without making a production. As days went by I started reducing the packs I bought, went from a pack a day to a pack in 3 days and so on. On the bad thing, I started smoking za for sleep. It helps but its just another bad habit. Trying to switch to edibles so I can quit smoking for good.
