Professor suddenly ghosting me
I cold emailed a professor asking about a possible internship/research collaboration. He responded within a day and scheduled a meeting very quickly.
The meeting lasted over an hour and seemed genuinely positive. We discussed my background, project ideas, logistics, funding/salary, possible PhD options, connecting me with his PhD students, etc. He also mentioned he needs to look into some organizational/admin complications.
I sent a polite follow-up around 10 days later asking whether there were any updates and mentioning I’d still be happy to talk with his students. No response.
I sent another short follow-up around 2 weeks after the first one explaining I’m still interested/flexible. Still no response so far. At this point it’s been around 4 weeks since the meeting. The confusing part is that the initial response and meeting were very engaged and concrete, but afterward communication completely died.
What am I supposed to do? Is this job now effectively dead or are four weeks still okay?
