Blood donation deferral after getting tattoo in New York State
I'm wondering why there is a deferral period of three months after getting a tattoo. I've heard that it's because of tattoo shops in New York State not being regulated. All of the tattoo artists I've ever gone to are regulated by New York State. I'm thinking it has to do with the fact that anyone can order a tattoo gun online and start doing tattoos. The Red Cross and other organizations have to protect themselves, as well as people who would be getting the donated blood.
I would be willing to undergo more testing if necessary in order to donate sooner than the three months. I just got a tattoo on June 11th.
