Hi everyone !

This is my first post on this subreddit. I apologize in advance for my poor English.

I was talking to someone about the renovations of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris after the fire (I saw that by the end of 2025, €840 million in donations from 340,000 donors in 150 different countries had already been collected). This person told me they found it unfair that a historic building received so many donations when there are so many people in need around the world. I should mention that this person isn't religious, which explains why I was happy to see the house of God receiving so many donations, and not them. What do you think I could say to this person to try and convince them that these donations were important, as I believe? How can I respond to their argument?
