Hello everyone,
I’m looking for some guidance regarding my Teamcenter (TC) training.
I have around 5 years of experience as a Mechanical CAD engineer in small-scale companies. In my current role, I’ve been introduced to PLM through Teamcenter, and I now spend about 70% of my time working with it. I’m genuinely fascinated by how PLM solves many of the issues I’ve seen in previous companies, so I’ve decided to transition my career into Teamcenter (Architect/Admin path).
About 2 months ago, I joined a training institute (based in Pune) while working full-time in Bangalore. The trainer is knowledgeable and the content is good, but I’m facing several challenges:
Coming from a mechanical background, I’m struggling to keep up with the pace. The trainer shared old recordings, but they don’t include the extra tips he gives during live sessions. He also insists everything is in SharePoint, which isn’t always enough.
My work schedule (10:30 AM – 7:30 PM) + daily training (8:30 – 9:30 PM) leaves me with almost no time to practice regularly.
Practice is further limited because VM access is only available from 10 AM to 10 PM.
By weekends, the backlog of modules becomes overwhelming.
Important topics like TC architecture, installation, BMIDE, and classification have already been covered, but I feel like I’m falling behind. It’s getting demotivating, and sometimes I even question if this path is right for me.
My questions:
Am I approaching this the wrong way, or is this training structure genuinely problematic?
Do Siemens’ official Teamcenter trainings offer better structure or self-paced options?
Are VM access limitations like this common in TC training programs?
Any advice or personal experiences would really help.
Thanks in advance!
