A year ago, I was convinced my running days were over. On March 6th 2025, I suffered a stress fracture in my right medial sesamoid. The pain was debilitating—swelling that wouldn’t go down, months in a boot and crutches, and absolutely no signs of improvement. Mentally I was wrecked. I’d trained for marathons, signed up for hyroxes, and had to cancel all these milestone events that I thought I’d be okay for. I was depressed, unmotivated, and honestly scared I’d never run again.
The success stories you all shared weren’t just encouraging—they were proof that recovery was real. On my darkest days, I’d read posts from people who’d come back, and I’d think: maybe I can too.
January 1st 2026, marked my gradual return to run program. Yesterday, I completed London Marathon 2026. But here’s what matters: since my return to running, I’ve covered over 900 kilometers with very minimal pain. Most of that minimal pain being psychological.
If you’re in the depths of this injury right now, convinced it’s the end—I get it. But I’m proof it’s not. Recovery takes time. There will be setbacks. But there is always light at the end of this tunnel.
Thank you to everyone here who shared their stories when I needed them most. Now I’m sharing mine with you. Keep going.
