So I’ve graduated early without learning about what it could do to my ncaa eligibility. I’m 16 and turn 17 in October I graduated march of 2026 and I need to know if I play 2 years of aau go to camps and gain interest from colleges. Does my eligibility clock start march 2027? And each year after that I lose 1 season?

Help with future (college-professional basketball)

I’m 16 years old and have been playing basketball since I was 6. Over the years, I’ve played on multiple AAU teams, worked with trainers, and competed in high-level events. Right now, I’m focused on gaining more exposure and understanding if my situation still allows me to pursue college basketball.

About 7 months ago, I suffered a back injury that kept me out for a while. During that time, I started to lose my passion for the game and shifted my focus toward academics. As a result, I graduated early at 16 in March 2026.

However, around April, I found my love for basketball again and became fully committed to taking it seriously. While I sometimes regret graduating early because I can no longer play high school basketball, I’ve been working hard to make the most of my situation.

I’m now fully recovered and have been consistently training and playing for the past month. This break actually helped me improve my shooting percentage has gone up significantly, my ball-handling is tighter, and my defense has improved a lot. I’m also planning to join an AAU team within the next month to continue building exposure.

I truly believe that if I stay locked in over the next couple of years, I can earn an opportunity to play at the college level. My main question is: will graduating early at 16 hurt my chances or impact my recruiting opportunities?
