What is it like working as an account manager? (AM)
Hi Saffas,
So I graduated with a bachelor’s degree with a focal in marketing management last year and looking for an entry level job has been quite tough. I do not hear back from a lot of job offers, but I recently did hear back from an intern position as a junior account manager for a company in Cape Town. My understanding is that it is more about managing client relationships and maintaining it, but what else is there to it? I mainly want to go into the marketing field, but it feels like the job openings are scarce with high competition and are either too basic or too broad ito duties and responsibilities.
Can anyone currently working as an account manager in South Africa please share their experience as working in the field and whether or not it is rewarding? I would also appreciate advice from anyone working in marketing currently on if this move would be advisable or hurt my future marketing career as someone who does not yet have a lot of experience working in marketing.
