Bought a car from a dealer earlier today and only noticed something odd later in the evening under different lighting. One of the body panels clearly looks like it’s been resprayed. It’s pretty obvious once you see it in the right light.
The car wasn’t advertised as having been in any accident, and it’s not recorded as a Category vehicle. There was no mention of any paintwork or repairs during the sale.
I’m a bit concerned this might point to previous damage that wasn’t disclosed. From what I understand, dealers are supposed to accurately describe the condition of the car, so I’m wondering where I stand legally here.
Is evidence of a resprayed panel enough to return the car? Has anyone dealt with something similar, and what steps did you take?
For context, I only bought the car today, so I’m still within the very early stage of ownership.
