Q Clearance Question
Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am hoping someone can answer some questions I have pertaining to getting approved for a Q level clearance.
23 year old who is in talks with a recruiter about a job position that would require a Q level clearance. The issue is that it seems I need the job prior to getting the clearance and said job is on the other side of the country, so if I don't get the clearance, I am SOL. P.S I believe I may know the answer, just need confirmation
My past is a bit rough in regard to getting a clearance, drug use started when I was about 14 doing prescription pills. At that same age I had gotten arrested for roughly 8 different charges, one of which was felony assault. I stopped prescription pills after that but did pick up drugs such as MDMA, LSD and cocaine here and there. I have not done drugs harder than marijuana within the last roughly 5 years. There's also a couple things that I am on paper for but did not get charged or convicted of such as burglary. I still did not hangout with the best crowd until about 2 years ago, it was a lot of partying and messing around. Within the last 2 (Almost 3) years I have cleaned up my act and now enjoy a couple beers a couple times a week and will smoke marijuana to help get myself to sleep, otherwise I'm up all night. I understand the THC would have to stop immediately for any chance.
Can anyone enlighten me on what it would look like for me to go through that process and how likely would I be to get denied and/or accepted for a clearance based on the information above? I have no problem being honest about my past either, I do regret what I have done and wish I would have chosen a better path but ya gotta keep moving forward regardless.
