So my mom always taught me to separate laundry like this: socks and pants detergent with extra softener 40 degrees, towels, bedsheets and underwear no softener, mild detergent 60-80 degrees, all other clothes (no separating by colour) detergent softener and 30-40 degrees. You can't mix these loads (no socks with underwear and etc).

My friends and husband thought it was weird but it makes sense to me, however I don't know whether it makes sense because i'm used to it, or because I see logically why (underwear or towels disinfect in higher temp to rid of bacteria , socks because extra smelly and etc).

Do you separate your laundry by type?
