Advice for Inherited Dresden plate blocks
My dad offered to make me a quilt, I asked that it be any pattern he wanted, and it should be king sized. After he passed away, his wife gave me these Dresden plates which she thought must have been this WIP.
There are three of the first one (3 round edges and one pointed, 11"), 4 of the next one (alternating round and pointed 11"), and 10 of the last one (all round 13").
A few questions!
What layout would make sense?
Can I make more with reproduction fabrics and they'll blend in? He was a better quilter but maybe I could get by.
What size of background block should they have?
Most older Dresden quilts I saw don't have a center piece but these seem to need it.
So far I'm thinking to put them in 16" blocks set on point with a nice green sashing. Should the centers match the sashing?
Thanks so much for any ideas!
