Needed a seal puller.
Took an old crusty prybar and turned it into a seal puller…
Put in that QP center section I got last week.
Axles seals were the original “victor” brand from 1966… they had failed and washed out the “sealed” axle bearings with peanut butter mocha fudge gear oil… so I replaced the seals and repacked the bearings with grease even though the internet said you’re “not supposed to”… figured it couldn’t hurt.
Drove it around and did the “break in procedure”… or at least close enough I’m comfortable with it. This is my first trutrak, it made the whole car feel tighter and the steering a little heavier, but not in a bad way if that makes sense. No noises, clunks, or surprises like the lockers I’ve had. More noticeable and feels different than an auburn/clutched style set up, but not in a bad way.
Went from a 3.00 to a 3.40. It’s noticeable and pretty good everywhere except with my 25” tire I’m buzzing 3k down the highway doing 65… but as far as compromises go I think I did pretty good considering it’s my daily driver.
Cheers🍻
3rd member thrown in bucket, bucket thrown in box… no harm no foul… but it made scratch my head and laugh a little.
UPS on the other hand threw my package into the itchy bush… which is uncool.
